Common Registration Errors & What To Do About Them

Getting a red X when you try to add classes to your schedule?  Read the error message next to the X, and then find it below to see what you will need to do to add the class.

Instructor Consent Required

The class instructor must approve all students who want to take it.  Contact the professor.  If you have permission, they will give you a code.  Log in to your account at home.apu.edu and use it within 24 hours to add the class.

Department Consent Required

The academic department office must approve all students who want to take this class.  Contact the department office.  If you have permission, they will give you a code.  Log in to your account at home.apu.edu and use it within 24 hours to add the class.

Class is full

There are no available spots left in this class.  Add yourself to the waitlist by checking the “Wait list if class is full” box when trying to add the class to your schedule.  REMEMBER:  If you will have to drop a class to make the waitlisted class fit, swap yourself onto the waitlist!

Unable to add the class - requisites have not been met

There is at least one other class that you must take before you can take this one.  Your best option is to sign up for a different class.  You can see the list of prerequisites in the class description.  Contact the department if you have questions about the prerequisites.

Related class component required

You can only sign up for this class if you also add the related class, which is most likely a lab, discussion or clinical.  Find the section that works in your schedule and include it as a related class, then enroll again.

Hold on account

A hold on your account is blocking your registration.  On your One Stop tab, click “View Holds” to see which office placed the hold and what you need to do to clear it.  If you still have questions about it, contact that office.
