COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will further develop their creative ability and visual communication skills, using a variety of drawing and painting media not offered in the introductory course.  Although primarily a studio (art production) course, art history, aesthetics and criticism will be integrated.

PROJECTS
Advanced projects are geared towards individual expression and advanced applications of technique and design using both dry, wet, mixed and digital media. Two to three main projects will be completed per semester. The developmental process includes: preliminary sketches, rough drafts, experimentation with media and individual conferences.

GRADING
Final grades will be comprised of all in-class work (artwork), homework, quizzes and tests.  Artwork is graded on creativity, fulfilling guidelines, craftsmanship and most importantly EFFORT!

HOMEWORK
Sketchbook assignments will be assigned every Friday and due on the following Thursday.  The assignments will be worth 30 points each, totaling 240 points per 9 weeks.  The sketchbook assignments account for roughly 1/3 of the 9 week's grade.  Late sketchbooks, without an excused absence, are not accepted for credit.
