Attention Seniors: If you are interested in applying to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, the register deadline is Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Students who apply by January 1 will receive full consideration for admission, University Honors Program, and scholarships. Admission decisions will be provided by the end of March.

Attention Seniors: Please send in a senior photo and baby picture you would like to be featured in the senior slideshow at graduation. Photos are to be a digital copy and should be emailed to Amaya Helmin (19helmina@apps.isd51.org). They are due Monday, December 10th. If you have not already sent a senior photo for the yearbook, your photo may also be used for the yearbook. All senior photos are also due for the yearbook on 12/10. If you have an issue with the deadline - please see Sabine in the Guidance Office. We want to make sure we have every senior in the yearbook and in the slideshow. Thank you.

Juniors & Seniors: If you are interested in taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test on Tuesday, November 20th, please let Sabine know in the Guidance Office. This test could be used if you are wanting to enter the military or for Career Exploration.

Juniors & Seniors: St. Cloud Technical College has a "Forecast Your Future" Construction event on Thursday, November 8th. You will be learning more about the following programs in the morning: Architectural Construction Technology, Carpentry, Electrical Construction Technology, Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Land Surveying/Civil Engineering, Plumbing, Water Environment Technologies. Industry tours at McDowall Company, St. Cloud Water Treatment and Frontier Precision in the afternoon. You will need to provide your own transportation for this college visit day. Sign up with Sabine in the Guidance Office if interested. 

Just a reminder that the next ACT Test date is December 8th, 2018 with a registration deadline of this Friday, November 2nd. To avoid a late fee, please sign up by this Friday if you are interested in testing on this date.

Scholarship Opportunity: Zonta International Young Woman in Public Affairs (YWPA): The Young Woman in Public Affairs Award honors young women at age 16 to 19 who demonstrate a commitment in public policy, government and volunteer organizations. Women of any nationality who are living or studying in a Zonta district/region at the time of application and demonstrate evidence of the following are eligible to apply:
   - Active Commitment to Volunteerism
   - Experience in local or student government
   -  Volunteer leadership achievements
   - Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
   - Advocating in Zonta International's mission of                     advancing the status of women worldwide

The local winner's entry ($750 award) is submitted, prior to April 15, to District Level competition, which has an award of $1,000. The district level winner is forwarded on to International Level competition, which selects 10 recipients to receive $4,000 to each. The District and International recipients are announced on July 1st. The deadline for submitting applications to the St. Cloud Zonta Club for 2019 will be March 1, 2019. Seniors: Winona State University and Minnesota State University/Mankato and many more State colleges have now opened up this week to apply free. If you need help or would like to see a list of Minnesota Colleges and Universities - come down to the Guidance Office. Just a reminder that if you are applying to a 2 or 4 year college, you must request your transcript online. Please see Sabine or Carly in the Guidance Office if you have questions.

A reminder to young men who are about to turn 18, or who have turned 18, that you are required to register with the Selective Service. If you have a valid social security number, you can register online at http://www.sss.gov, which links you to the agency's computers then click on the "Register Now" icon. Paper registration forms are available at any post office. See Sabine in the Guidance Office if you have any questions.

Juniors & Seniors: National College Fair - Oct. 24 - 25 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This is a great opportunity to get exposed to many local and national colleges. Go to www.gotocollegefairs.com.

St. Cloud State University offers ACT test prep courses throughout the year. Course options and dates are available HERE.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: You are allowed two college visit days per year. A reminder that you must follow the procedures in using your college visit days: 1) submit to the office written permission from your parent/guardian; 2) pick up an absentee homework log from the office; 3) these arrangements must be made in advance of your college visit. Students who do not follow these procedures will be unexcused.

Seniors: Hagen Scholarship Foundation is a nationwide need based merit scholarship. Each scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Go to www.hsfmo.org or see Sabine in the Guidance Office for more information. DEADLINE: November 15, 2018.

Juniors and Seniors: St. Cloud State University invites you to our "Be the Broadcaster" event on Wednesday, Sept. 26th! Do you see yourself one day becoming a sports reporter, sitting behind the anchor desk, or running your own radio show? If you are interested in a career in television or radio broadcasting, this is the perfect opportunity to visit campus and check out SCSU's award-winning broadcasting program. You will get to talk with SCSU alumni who are current professionals in the field, participate in tours of our state-of-the-art radio and television facilities, and engage in hands-on experiences with the radio and television equipment.

Juniors and Seniors: This fall, the College of Saint Benedict will host the area Minnesota Education Fair for Central Minnesota. The program will be offered the morning of Tuesday, September 25th from 9-10:30am. Approximately 90 post-secondary institutions attending at Clemens Fieldhouse, College of Saint Benedict. They will be using Lead Retrieval technology at the fair. Please be sure to sign up ahead of time at www.gotocollegefairs.com to create your personal profile and print off your personal barcode. This will allow you to visit with the college representatives without using that time to complete an inquiry card. There will NOT be an option to create the account on-site.
