About EL

Mr. Trebisovsky

Welcome!  My name is Jim Trebisovsky, also known as Mr.T. I am an English Language teacher and Technology Integrationist here at Newport.  This year I am working specifically with grades 4-5. I have so much fun working with students that can bring in a perspective different from my own. I believe that through hard work, anything can be accomplished. If you have any questions for the EL team, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Our EL Program exists to support students who speak another language. In the past, EL has been known as ELL and ESL. Students that speak another language or hear another language at home may have a more difficult time learning English, especially academic English. We support these students through co-teaching, where we enter into a classroom room to support EL students, and through small group instruction. Our goal is to help ELs achieve native level English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
