Fall OEC Camp

OEC students volunteer at Twin Cities Marathon
Approximately 40 students in Osseo Senior High's Opportunity for Emergency Care program volunteered at the first aid station at the Twin Cities Marathon on Oct. 4.  Students gained hands-on experience helping with heat exhaustion cases, wound care, and other medical issues.  Students learned alongside doctors and paramedics at the finish line and various mile makers throughout the race.

OEC Interns learn IV skills
Our second year program interns learn a variety of skills above and beyond our OEC course track.  This week they learned how to insert and IV in a dummy arm, and then did the real thing! They did a great job!

OEC Adopt-a-Family
Together with your support, the OEC program provided many Zanewood Elementary students with gifts this holiday season. Opportunities in Emergency Health Care (OEC) raised over $700, purchasing blankets, pillows, hats, mittens, winter jackets and boots, and toys to individuals in need. The students grow through their dedication to the task; they spend two-weeks on fundraising efforts. On Thursday, December 17th, students gathered and traveled to the Fridley Target to purchase, then met back at Osseo Senior High School to wrap the gifts – student participation is the driving force behind the campaign. And although the joy in providing for people in need is felt by all, the students also gain an appreciation for what they have in their own lives.
