About the Show:

Frozen JR. brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life! The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production! A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. Faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters (including each princess at 3 different ages, a talking reindeer, and an ice chorus of dancers making the magic happen) the story is loaded with wonder, adventure, and plenty of humor. (We are open to casting many roles with students of any gender.)

THE COMMITMENT:

There will be one full cast rehearsal December 17th to hand out scripts, etc.  Regular rehearsals begin January 7th and run before and after school throughout January, February, and early March.

Leads usually rehearse 8:30 am-9:15 am, ensemble and rest of cast is usually 4-5:30 pm.  Later rehearsals go until 6 or 6:30 pm.  We ask families to donate snacks so our cast is fed.

A preview performance will be Friday March 13 at 11 p.m.; performances are Friday March 13 at 7 p.m. & Saturday, March 14th at 2 & 7 p.m., and Sunday March 15th at 2 p.m., with an encore for the school Monday, March 16th at 9:45 a.m.

v  Cast members will not need to come to every rehearsal, but are required to attend all rehearsals they are scheduled for unless they notify directors in advance.  Repeated unexcused absences may lead to re-casting of a student’s part.

v  Students whose behavior impedes the progress of the group may be dropped from the cast.

FAQ:

Can every child who auditions get in the play?

We often have up to 200 applications to audition, over 100-125 kids audition, and we usually cast around 60.  Unfortunately, we will not have a part for everyone.  Please help your child understand that if they are not cast, this is just a part of theater.  We hope to see them at auditions again next year!

Can my other children come to rehearsals with their sibling who is in the play?

No.  Unfortunately we can only be responsible for cast members; we do not have the personnel to care for other children as well.  Thanks for understanding!

MORE QUESTIONS?

We cast around 50 students in grades 1-5 in our annual musical!

The show is co-directed by Drama Teacher Kris Holsen and Music Teacher Ben Pogatshnik.
