During the month of March our students in First through Third grades went on an Art Adventure! We explored pieces from the Minneapolis Institute of Art that reflected the theme “Sources of Strength.” Some of the pieces included a 2 ton blown glass chandelier by Chihuly, a 12th century ceramic tiger pillow from China, a depression era photograph of a migrant woman, and 2 fierce looking Japanese guardian statues.
Take a peek at the collection online:
or visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art to see the pieces in person (where admission is always free)
The MIA is celebrating their 100th birthday this year, so its an extra special time to visit! A big thank you to the First, Second, and Third grade teaching teams, and to the parent volunteers that made this program possible: Susannah Baudhuin, Jennifer Wozniak, Amy Kosnick, Teri Parker-Brown, Sandi Nielsen, Bonnie Lindberg, Kirsten Morell, Kirsten Loiseaux-Purcell, Gina Goldschmitz, Sarah Sondag, and Erin LaVallie Baran.
