On Wednesday, October 19th the Woodland community will join with countless others across the nation to take a stand against bullying by celebrating Unity Day. We will come together at an all school assembly to make a commitment to kindness, acceptance and inclusion. While we strive to teach, practice, and live the Woodland Way every day, we know that getting along with others can, at times, be difficult; and statistics indicate that bullying does occur, to varying degrees, in all communities.
At Woodland, we want everyone to know that no one deserves to be bullied, no one is alone, and that, together, we can create a school where bullying isn’t welcome; and where people stand up, speak out, and get help, for all parties, on occasions when bullying may occur.
On UNITY DAY, all are encouraged to wear something orange to our all-school assembly. Any orange shirt, item of clothing, or accessory is fine, but all are strongly encouraged to wear something orange.
One option is to wear a Woodland Upstander t-shirt, which are available for purchase by completing the order form below, and returning it, with your payment, to your child’s teacher (or the office) by the end of the day on Tuesday, September 27th. Upstander shirts cost $9.00. Cash or checks are accepted, and checks should be written out to Woodland Elementary. Click here to download and print a t-shirt order form.
