Turkey Trot Contest

Dear Woodland Families,

This year the Woodland Fundraising Committee is sponsoring an exciting new fundraiser called “The Turkey Trot Contest!” The contest will help raise money for indoor recess activities (new board games, puzzles, etc). With the arrival of the cold winter months, the likelihood for indoor recess increases. Many of the classrooms have board games that are falling apart, or missing pieces, and need to be replaced. In addition, the proceeds will help with the purchase of additional playground balls for outdoor recess.

We have enlisted 11 enthusiastic volunteers from the Woodland staff to compete against each other for the reward of gracefully strutting around the school dressed in a ridiculous turkey costume! Our list of bold and adventurous “turkeys” include:

- Principal Carlson
- Mr. Lostetter
- Ms. Rahlf
- Mr. Fogolin
- Ms. Allan
- Ms. McCay
- Ms. Lindeman
- Ms. Rutman
- Ms. Dougherty
- Ms. Hermes
- Ms. Tolan

The contest allows students to purchase paper turkey feathers ($1.00 each) for their favorite teacher or staff member. The feathers are in turn attached to large paper turkeys with photos attached representing the teachers/staff members. The paper turkeys will be on display by the office. The teacher, or staff member, who ends up with the most feathers has to wear the ridiculous turkey costume!

We will be selling the paper feathers November 17th-20th (Mon.-Thurs.), in front of the office from 9:10-9:25am. Please send cash or checks only (make checks payable to Woodland PTO). The winner will be announced on Friday, November 21st. And, the brave winner will do their “turkey trot” around school on November 24th or 25th!

Thank you for your kind support! (and, a special thank you to our “turkeys”)
