Are you looking for ideas to keep your child engaged in learning this summer? Community Education is offering a new CAHOOTS program (GRASP replacement) for math and reading, a learning option for students to complete at home on their own schedule.
Cahoots is an eight-week correspondence program designed to help students in grades K-5 maintain their math and reading levels during the summer months.
Students complete weekly lessons at home and can check answers online. After completing each lesson, your child sends a reflection postcard to a ‘Reflection Buddy’ at our Community Education response center, where a written response is sent back to your child.
Students who successfully complete the program receive an award at the end of summer.
Cahoots should not be considered as a replacement for participating in summer school if a child qualifies. Cahoots is not intended to replace regular reading for enjoyment or math activities that strengthen a child’s fluency and love for math.
A packet containing a workbook, instructions and eight reflection cards will be sent home with participating students by the last week of school.
It is recommended students work on the grade level just completed, to review and reinforce skills learned during the school year. Please discuss with your child’s teacher, if you feel another level may be more appropriate. If you have specific questions or would like to see workbook samples, they will be available in your school office through the end of March.
The enrollment fee is $33 for one subject (math or reading) or $64 for both subjects. The cost includes all materials and the response service through Community Education.
***PLEASE DO NOT RETURN ENROLLMENT FORM(s) TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL.***
You can enroll your child by following the instructions for Online Registration (preferred method) or by completing the Cahoots Enrollment Form and returning it with your registration fee to: ISD 196 Community Education (CAHOOTS), 15180 Canada Ave, Rosemount, MN 55068. In order for Community Education to receive all materials in time for the end of the school year, your order must be received no later than April 4, 2017. If you miss this deadline, please call Community Education at 651.423.7924.
