Art Adventure Update

posted Dec 9, 2014, 10:00 AM by David Lostetter
For the month of the November our 1st through 3rd graders at Woodland went on an Art Adventure!  Using 8 pieces of art from the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s collection, we talked about the theme “People and Their Environment.”  Students saw a wooden mask from Cote d’Ivoire, a Tahitian landscape by Gauguin, a Lakota beaded suitcase, a Tudor period room, and much more!  Ask your student about what they saw - or go to the flickr site to view the art together: https://www.flickr.com/photos/minneapolisinstituteofarts/sets/72157635620977274/

Consider a family outing to view the art in person at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (www.artsmia.org) where admission is always free!  MANY thanks to our parent volunteers who came into to the classrooms as picture presenters:  Bonnie Lindberg, Susannah Baudhuin, Erin LaVallie, Jen Wozniak, Sarah Sondag, Amy Kosnick, Kirsten Morell, Gina Goldschmitz, Teri Parker-Brown, Sandi Nielsen, and Kirsten Loiseaux-Purcell.  If you’re interested in getting involved in the Art Adventure program here at Woodland please contact Jenni Lawrence at jennilawrence2@comcast.net
