4th grade GT/YS students studied architecture as one of their units of study this year. They learned about Victorian architecture, art deco, columns, cantilevers, domes, dormers, quoins, keystones, arches, relief and the work of many contemporary architects! After completing the unit they had an opportunity to take an architecture field trip throughout St. Paul and Minneapolis where they saw the architecture they studied at school come alive before their eyes. They visited the Ramsey County Court House, St. Paul Cathedral, drove down Summit Avenue, Lakewood Chapel Cemetery, Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens, Foshay Tower and the Weisman Art Museum. It was a busy, but fun-filled day!
