School News:

Reminder for 5th grade parents:

We are getting excited about our upcoming optional weekend field trip to Eagle Bluff.   An informational meeting is planned for Tuesday, October 25 from 6:30-8:00 in the Red Pine media center.  Please join us to learn about Eagle Bluff and what we will be doing while we are there.  5th grade students are also welcome to attend.  See you then!

Harvest Parade and Parties

We are excited about our upcoming Harvest Parade and Parties next Friday, October 28th!   

NEW THIS YEAR: We will have seating in the gymnasium/cafeteria area for parents and other visitors to view the parade.  This seating will be open at approximately 1:35.  We ask that volunteers arrive no earlier than 1:15 and parade viewers no earlier than 1:30!  You will need to sign in at the front lobby when you arrive.  Thanks!  

Fall Conferences:

Sign up for your child’s Fall Conference at www.district196.org/rp . The last day to sign up online will be Monday, October 31st. After that day, you will need to call the Red Pine office.

Conferences will be held Wednesday, November 2 and Thursday, November 3, 2016. Our office staff will assist any parents who do not have computer access.

Picture Retakes Tuesday, October 25th

If you would like to have your child’s picture retaken, please send in the picture packet that they received.  If your child was absent on picture day and you would like to order pictures,  please send in the picture order form or go to mylifetouch.com to order online.  

Salvation Army Coats for Kids Distribution  
For Who: Adults and children living in Dakota & Scott County who are unable to purchase winter gear at this time.
When:  Thursday, October 27th 9:00 am-6:00 pm*
Where:  Easter Lutheran Church
             4545 Pilot Knob Road (Corner of Cliff & Pilot Knob Road in Eagan)

The adult picking up coats must bring his/her picture ID, a current piece of mail and a form of ID for each person needing a coat (medical card, social security card, birth certificate, etc.).
*Coats will be distributed based on availability.

News from the Library:

Please mark your calendar for our Barnes & Noble Book Fair in Eagan on Friday, November 11th from 9am to 10pm.  

Some highlights for this year’s B&N Book Fair:

*Each teacher has a book wishlist for his / her class

*Big Red and Mr. Goeldner will visit the around 5:00

*Prize drawings for students who attend and another for all RP students

*Guest Readers

*Lots of wonderful books to choose from for your reader(s)

Please support our B&N Book Fair by attending.  If you cannot, there will be an online code available the day of the book fair and for a few days after which can be used online or in-store for sale proceeds to be credited to Red Pine.  Last year we earned more that $2,000 for books for our RP Library and Classrooms.

Nurse’s Corner:  

Health Hero Day is Thursday October 27th!  You may access Health information on the Red Pine Website, under support services and click on the red NURSE.  Left side are video’s for your kids to watch regarding health.  More will be added throughout the year.

Enjoy your long weekend Red Pine Families!

Healthy reminder >>eat, sleep, stay hydrated and enjoy each other.  Also, long weekends lead to playdates, movies, malls, sleep overs.  Lice is everywhere – be vigilant in checking your child.

The change in weather – students should be wearing layers.  Please remind them they will be going outside for recess.

Health Hero Interest:  If your child is in 4th grade and interested in being a Health Hero next year, please let me know.  Once again we (the 10 Health Heroes and myself) will be looking for some kids who are excited about promoting health throughout the school.  Meet to do videos for the Nurse’s Website, Keep the Health Hero Carts stocked, make shirts for 5th grade Health Hero Days.  They need to be available before or after school.

PTO News:

BOX TOP$ for EDUCATION:  Thank you families for turning in your Box Tops in September.  Please continue to send your Box Tops to school on the collection sheets and turn them in at the Box Top area outside of the office.  Please turn in your Box Tops for this month by Monday, October 24, 2016.   Here’s where you can find the collection sheets for you reference: Red Pine Elementary website > Parents Tab > PTO > Box Top Sheet to Fill out.
