School News:

Welcome to Conferences!

We are excited to have families visit for conferences today and tomorrow!  Our Red Pine kids have had a wonderful fall learning about being a part of a community of learners in addition to many other things.   We would like to remind families that if students attend conferences, they should either join the conference or sit outside the classroom quietly. Thanks!

*** Veterans’ Day!!!!! ***

Next Friday, November 11th, we would like to invite all Red Pine family members and community members who are currently serving in the armed forces or are veterans to come and join us at 9:00.  It has been a tradition at Red Pine to have the students greet and thank our service men and women as they come into the school on that day.  You can gather in the front entry.  We welcome you to come in uniform if you can.  There will be treats, coffee and juice in the teachers’ lounge afterwards.

From the Computer Lab

Notes from Mrs. Skalski

I am Red Pine’s technology specialist and I have the pleasure of working with all of our students as they develop tech-related, age-appropriate skills. It’s conference time and I encourage you to stop in to the computer lab to say hello when you are in the building for conferences.  If we don’t get a chance to meet during conferences then maybe you would like to visit our lab’s webpage to see what your children have been doing during class with me. Our page, Skalski Lab (https://sites.google.com/a/apps.district196.org/skalski/home), is used during class and I encourage students to bookmark it at home as a way to show their family what we are learning in the lab and take their learning home with them.

Start ordering your yearbooks today!

Yearbooks are on sale online now!!  They can easily be ordered by going to www.jostensyearbooks.com.

Yearbooks will be handed out the last week of school!  Get your yearbook ordered before the rush!!

News from the Library:

Our Barnes & Noble Book Fair in Eagan is just over a week away on Friday, November 11th.  The Book Fair runs from 9 in the morning until 10 at night.

We are still looking for more volunteers for our after school time slots to help.  Feel free to contact us or stop by the library during conferences for more info and/or book ideas for students.

You can also sign up to volunteer at the following link:

In years past, we’ve been lucky to have a well-attended and profitable book fair.  It is a lot of fun for Red Pine Families and Staff.

Some highlights for this year’s B&N Book Fair:

*Gift your teacher a book from his/her wishlist for the classroom library

*Visit with Big Red and Mr. Goeldner who will visit the around 5:00

*Enter one the prize drawings for students who attend and another for all RP students

*Guest Readers

*Lots of wonderful books to choose from for readers of all ages

If you cannot attend, there will be an online code available the day of the book fair and for a few days after.  Online sales with a code will add to our in-store proceeds and will be credited to Red Pine.  Last year we earned more that $2,000 for books for our RP Library and Classrooms.

Thank YOU!

Nurse’s Corner:

Welcome to fall weather Red Pine families!  Layers recommended as students will go outside.  The Lost and Found bin is calling your name, if your child is missing an item or 10, please check out the bin.

Long weekend Reminders.  Good quality sleep is always important, or the Monday they come back is a struggle.  Try to have downtime on Sunday if the rest of your days are busy.  Continue to make sure they are well hydrated.  Lice doesn’t usually start in the school, it can be anywhere.  Please be vigilant on checking after sleep overs, play dates, if your coats or hats are in a big pile at the science museum etc..  I don’t need to know if your child has lice as we do not send out letters or notify classes.  It is not a health concern that will get other children ill.  Be vigilant and treat if seen.  No need to keep them out of school.

We do however recommend if a temp over 100, vomiting or diarrhea that your child stays home for 24 hours after last bout and fever free for 24 hours without medication.

Check the link out below for videos that may interest your children.  More will be coming.

Thank you!

PTO News:

The next PTO Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 10 at 6:30PM in Red Pine Media Center. We hope to see you there!

Thank you families for turning in your Box Tops in September and October.  We raised $306.50 for our school.  Our goal this year is to raise $3,000.  Please continue to collect your Box Tops! The class that brings in the most Box Tops from November 1 - February 24th will win a pizza party!  I’ll keep everyone posted as to which classroom is in the lead after each month.

Here’s where you can find the collection sheets for you reference: Red Pine Elementary website > Parents Tab > PTO > Box Top Sheet to Fill out.
