School News:

To all Red Pine Families of Second Grade Students,

If your second grader is planning to go out to lunch with their grandparent or special person after Grandparent's Day, (Tuesday, November 22) they must have a signed note by their parents in advance.  A white permission letter was sent home in your child's Friday folder.

Also, please remind your child's guest for Grandparent/Special Person Day to park in our school parking lot.  Our staff will be parking in the street or on the field so the whole lot will be open for them.  We don't want our guests to be scared off by the cars in the road and think that the lot is full.

Second Grade Music Program is Monday, November 21 at 6:30.  Students should report to their classrooms at 6:00.

Grandparent/Special Person Day is Tuesday, November 22 from 10:00-11:30.

Thank you for your help,

The Second Grade Teachers

Red Pine's FLL Lego League Team does a Great job at Regional Tournament

Congratulations to Red Pine's FLL Lego League team for the great job they did at the Regional Tournament at Dakota Hills Middle School last Saturday!  They built an awesome robot that they programmed to complete several missions from the Robot Game.  They also worked very hard on research to go along with this year's research theme, Animal Allies, choosing to study the effects of oils spills on marine life.  Their research was detailed and amazing and they had a lot of fun putting on a skit for the judges to show these effects and also give ideas for solutions to the problem.  The judges comments were that they were engaging and imaginative!  Way to go Cardinals!

A Very Big Congratulations to Griffin Caffrey, Keiser Derickson, Ezra Gebeyehu, McKenna Henning, Tara Le, Aashish Mankala, Max Monzel, Andy Prince, Kessler Schaefer, and Adi Sunkam for doing an Excellent job and showing great teamwork and sportsmanship!

And a Very Big Thank You to parents Doug Prince and Dan Schaefer for doing a Fantastic job of coaching the team! We appreciate you!

Red Pine's Lego League team is looking forward to continuing their efforts with building robots with our EV3 robot kit and programming new adventures for the robots to accomplish!  They will be joined by wonderful teammates Mac Blundell, Isaac Buyck, A.J. News from the RP Library:

THANK YOU for helping make this year's Barnes & Noble Book Fair a success this year.  Last Friday so many Red Pine Families and Staff came out to the Barnes & Noble in Eagan to support our  RP school library and classrooms.  We were able to purchase 505 new books for the RP Library and more than a hundred new books were donated to classrooms.

A BIG Thanks to Christine LaMott and all of the other parent and student volunteers who gave their time and talents to help benefit our Library.

PTO News:

It was another incredible year with our fall fundraiser! We raised $24,500!

It was voted at the most recent PTO meeting to utilize the funds to support staffing costs, which allows our kids to have lower classroom ratios.

We are looking ahead to next year’s PTO Board. A few board positions will be open and we are looking for parents who are interested in learning more about the PTO. It is a great way to get involved and help make decisions with the way fundraised dollars are spent at Red Pine. Please attend our next meeting or email johncongemi@gmail.com for more information.

SAVE THE DATE >>>for the Next PTO Meeting!

The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 8th at 4:30pm. We hope to get to get a record number of

parents to attend!
