A Message From the Principal:

Dear Red Pine Families,

Thank you for your ongoing support of Red Pine Elementary.  Our Parent Teacher Conferences were a huge success last week.  I hope you were able to find out all of the great things your students do in school each day.  We are so lucky to have an incredible teaching staff to work with an awesome student body!

As you know, we were a polling site for the election held this past Tuesday.  From a school standpoint, the process was very smooth throughout the day.  We informed the students in the morning that the day would be like every other day, with the only difference being that all students would exit through the doors by the office at the end of the day.  We had volunteers by both sets of doors, which helped with the overall safety of the school.  I would like to thank the following parents for helping us with this on Tuesday: Tanya Bertrand, Greg Kelly, Gary Sirek, Jody Anderson, Kelly Jaedike, Tati Terfa, Kristen Langstraat, Brad Hernandez, and Bob Wagner.

Also regarding the subject of safety, I would like to take this opportunity to address safety during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.   Please note that the yellow-marked curb is only for student drop-off or pick-up.  We ask that you not park your car at the curb and walk your child to the door or in the school.  This creates an unsafe situation for the students.  If you choose to walk your student into the building, please park your car in a parking spot and walk him or her in.  There needs to be a constant flow of cars moving along the curb as students are dropped off or picked up.  Also, please refrain from letting your student out of, or into, your vehicle when you are in the inner lane of this area.  This creates an unsafe situation for the students.  Our goal is to provide the safest drop-off and pick-up area possible.  With your help, we can make this happen.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation with this important aspect of student safety.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at (651) 423-7828.

School News:

*** Veterans’ Day!!!!! ***

Tomorrow, November 11th, we would like to invite all Red Pine family members and community members who are currently serving in the armed forces or are veterans to come and join us at 9:00.  It has been a tradition at Red Pine to have the students greet and thank our servicemen and women as they come into the school on that day.  You can gather in the front entry.  We welcome you to come in uniform if you can.  There will be treats, coffee and juice in the teacher’s lounge afterwards.

Fifth Grade October Service Project UPDATE

The fifth graders collected new and used t-shirt during the month of October for our October service project.  We cut the middle of the t-shirts into diaper-sized pieces, and then we also cut off the sleeves to be made into baby hats.  We partner with a group at Prince of Peace church in Burnsville who the edges and create cloth diapers and baby hats which are sent to babies in need both locally and around the world.  We then braid the necks and the hems of the t-shirts to make pet toys which are donated locally to Last Hope.  This year, we made 271 diapers, 502 baby hats, and 175 pet toys.

~~~Way to go, fifth graders!
Regional Lego League Tournament
Red Pine's FLL (First Lego League) team will be competing in the Regional Tournament at Dakota Hills Middle School this Saturday, November 12th.  Red Pine fifth graders will be competing in the Robot Game at 9:45 am, 12:00 pm, and 2:15 pm and in head to head competition between 3:15 and 4:30 pm.  Any Red Pine students who may be interested in participating on Red Pine's FLL Lego League team in the future are encouraged to stop by for one of the Robot Game performances to get an idea about what our team does and to watch and cheer our Red Pine fifth graders on!  Each Robot Game performance is two minutes long.  Go Red Raptors!
