Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is an international team-based problem-solving program for Red Pine students in grades 1 through 5.  Students learn and experience creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.  They also use improvisational and dramatic skills in their presentations.  Every year, the DI program reaches 100,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 other countries.  Teams of up to 7 students solve open-ended Team Challenges and present their solutions at a Tournament on a Saturday in March.  If teams do well in the March Regional Tournament, they go on to the Minnesota State Tournament in April, and if that goes well, they go to the Global Tournament in Tennessee.  Destination Imagination teams, or DI teams, are tested to think on their feet, work together, and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges.  Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills – they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.  For more information, contact Linda Denmark or check out the DI websites at www.idodi.org and Minnesota site www.mndi.org
