In speech therapy we really do like to have fun!  Talk like a pirate day was a great opportunity for us to do just that.  Many of my students created language or articulation crafts, we read stories, and made lots of 'ARRRR' sounds!  Please enjoy the following pictures.

New School Year

As we being a new year, several exciting things will be happening that are speech related.  For the children that I pull out for therapy, I will be looking at their skills and doing a 'mini' evaluation to see where they are.  Before school began, I was lucky enough to introduce a great program for developing expression to all the teachers within our district.  This program is called the Expanding Expression Toolkit, otherwise known as the EET.  This is a great program that uses a multi-sensory approach to improving a students verbal and written expression.  For more information regarding this program please go to the link http://www.expandingexpression.com/ this program is beneficial for all grades and academic levels.

I hope that as the school year progress my students make progress towards their individual speech goals and also the goals you have as parents and teachers.  At anytime you wish to speak with me regarding your child please don't hesitate to call or e-mail.  I will be in the building on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during this academic year.

This month is speech, we have been tying all activities into spring!  Flowers, Rain, Mud, you name it and we can create a speech activity around it.  Below are pictures of a flower craft we did based on a language activity, the students were required to tell me the function of the items on the petals.  There is also an articulation version!
