Dear Parents,

Hello, my name is Lorna Fake and I am looking forward to teaching your child this year in second grade.

For those of you who do not know, I grew up in England and attended college there.   I have taught at GSB for seventeen years.  I love to be outside and active.  I plan to take our class outside for a variety of activities throughout the year.

This year, I am asking parents to provide their child with a pair of headphones to be used in our classroom.  We will use them with our ipads.  Your child will be responsible for their own headphones.  They will be kept in a  bag in your child’s desk. If your child wants to bring in any pencils, colored pencils, markers etc. they will become class property.  Thank you.

I will write a newsletter home every week to inform you what we have been doing and upcoming events.  Sometimes the children help me write this; so you get two perspectives on what has been happening!  .

I welcome parent volunteers in the classroom.  This is a very good way of seeing your child in the school environment.  This year I am looking for volunteers to help us with our Four Winds Nature Program.  This would be a commitment twice a month, once to attend an informative training session and once to co-teach the lesson to our class.  Please let me know if you are interested and I can give you more details.

If you wish to contact me, I am usually in school from 7:15 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  My phone number is 882-6320.  My e-mail address is lfake@aos93.org.

I hope your child has been reading this summer and recording books on a summer reading list. If your child brings in a list of books he/she has read, they will be invited to a summer reading party at school in September.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. Please do not hesitate to contact me.    Lorna Fake
