****Have a great break!!!
We have concluded our short but sweet unit on poetry. Look forward to our class anthology of student work later this spring.
Book Projects went well. We heard from Jordan J and Fiona. Our next opportunity will be May 16.
Enclosed find our last corrected homework for the year and this week’s spelling quiz. Children have done an especially good job with homework in general this year. Those students who have not missed any homework assignments at all will be honored at a homework party later this spring! Congratulations to everyone for hard work and personal responsibility.
We completed our multiplication unit, and we have taken our final assessment on this unit. The kids did a great job. No more homework!!
Science and Social Studies:
Media Monday featured a Disney Imagineering DVD, “Levers and Pulleys”. We got to see how they are used in various rides and attractions in theme parks. It is always fascinating to see the design and model building process, and appreciate how the 3rd Grade problem solving in math and science really has a future! Ed Emberley’s “Squiggles, Dots. And Lines” led to steps in single cell animation to depict force and motion. The week ended with “Marble Madness”, and test driving Lego vehicles (and anything that would roll!) on our Darda track.
And now from the kids:
Jack C: I liked working with clay in Art.
Zach: I liked drawing anime in Art.
