Welcome to Mrs. Carter's classroom !

I'm excited to be able to share classroom news and keep you informed about important happenings in our school using my own web page linked into the Beeman site. I am hoping this will be a way to share ideas, student work, documents , and our hopes and dreams for the school year. This site will not be static! I hope to post morning messages each day! Please continue to check this site for changes and important announcements!

Several summers ago I took a graduate course on personalized learning and technology in the classroom. Although a bit overwhelming,I can say I am more confident using technology as a tool for learning as well as providing students with some pretty cool ways to show their progress toward meeting competencies. With our latest shipment of chrome books and I-Pads we are moving toward closer to 1:1 devices for each student and the goal of making a digital classroom a reality. What I know for sure when ever I mention technology-students are ready for more and ready to lead the way!

The most important message I want to leave you with is my desire to collaborate with parents and work together to make this a great year for your child. You are my strongest resource when it comes to knowing what they need so more communication is what I desire.  We are moving forward with important 21st century skills in technology, but nothing is as powerful as a phone call, a visit before or after school, or a note if something needs to be addressed.

Keep checking the "Class News"  tab. I will post most morning meeting notes under the month we are in . It might help you feel more connected with our classroom!
Here is my first post today!

Dear 4th and 5th and 6th graders,

I've been waiting for this day so long! This is the first day we will start to become a community. This is the first day I will refer to you as my kids, and my friends will look at me and wonder how I  could have so many children. This is the first day we will learn about finding the good in others, and trying to minimize the things that bother us about others. This is the first day to start with a clean slate, to correct mistakes, to start brand new!

There are a few things I can promise you:

I can promise to listen to you, and to respond to your needs.

I can promise to respect your differences, and treat you each like the unique people you are!

I can promise you we will have fun! We will work hard, and play hard.

I wonder if you are as excited as I am? I wonder who will be the first one to call me Mom by mistake(or sometimes Dad!) We have the whole year to become the best version of ourselves. I have high hopes and expectations that this class will be a memorable one. Let's get going!

Fondly,

Mrs. Carter

I look forward to a year of growth for all of us!

Annette Carter
