MCS Direct Counseling Services for Students:

Individual Student Support/Family Meetings:

The MCS School Counselor is available to work one on one with students on issues that are of social, emotional or behavioral concern. Confidentiality is maintained except in situations where safety is a factor. The counselor is also available to meet with families on an individual basis with parents and/or with parents and children.

Small Support Groups:

Small groups are made up of 4-6 students. These groups meet once a week for approximately 6-8 sessions and are designed to help students with similar needs to be more successful in and outside of school. Some of the groups offered include Friendship, Changing Families, Anger Management, Self-Esteem and Worry or Stress Reduction. These groups are optional and take place during the school day.

Weekly Classroom Guidance:

Systematic and developmental classroom guidance is provided to all students in grades K-6. Lessons are focused on feelings, conflict resolution, bullying, harassment, stress management, mindfulness and personal safety.
