Mr. Kelly Patrick Murphy started his education in Oelwein, Iowa at a small catholic school called Sacred Heart Schools. He later obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa and his Master of Science and Specialist in Education degrees in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University.

He has served as Chief Technology Consultant to Stamford Public Schools in Stamford, Connecticut and also was Director of Technology at Indiana public schools. He most recently established CloudMurphy Consulting which provides consulting to K-12 schools and higher education on how to use technology to increase student achievement and enhance staff productivity.

Mr. Murphy's first day as the Director of Technology at Andrean High School was July 5, 2016.

His goals at Andrean are to first establish a robust and reliable network, and then concentrate on the integration of technology into the instructional activities in the classrooms of Andrean. He also emphasizes the importance of communication on how technology positively impacts education. "Instructional Technology Services (ITS) is a newly created "service-oriented" department that maintains the technology infrastructure and provides training necessary for teachers to successfully use technology in their classroom," Murphy said. "It also provides support for all other staff on their use of technology."

Murphy stated that his leadership style is based on building collaborative relationships with all Andrean stakeholders. A key element of that philosophy is the importance of communication. To that end, he has established the ITS website where all things technology is communicated to our school. He also will reconvene the Technology Advisory Committee that will examine and create technology policies, and guide the path for future technology initiatives.

Murphy firmly believes that the most overlooked aspect of school technology departments across the country is providing teachers with the training to use instructional technology to increase the academic achievement of their students. In regards to his philosophy on working with teachers and staff, Murphy said, "Teachers and staff don't care what you know, until they know that you care."
