Action:  Choose a 2 Column Layout, Insert a Welcome Message and Two Images.


Page Layout

One of the first things you want to have planned and then select the option for is 'Page Layout.'  Here you can get a basic 'prefab' design for laying out text and 'gadgets' on your page.  Your choices consist of a one, two or three column layout with or without a header and footer.  For this course, let's select a two column layout.  Your text and objects will be layed out on the page in two columns.  

    Click on the 'edit' button
    Select Layout
    Choose - 2 Column Layout.

Notice the 'column' boxes that now appear.  You can begin typing text in each 'column'  Go ahead and enter text on the left side.  In lesson 3.2 we will review text formatting and in lesson 3.3 we will insert an image in the right column.

Basic Text Formatting

To enter text simply click on edit and begin typing.  Use the formatting toolbar to modify text.  
  • Font Style - Lets you choose from several 'Fonts'
  • Font Size - Size in increments of 2
  • Font Bold, Italic, Underline
  • Font Color, Font Background Color
  • Hyperlink
  • Lists
  • Indent
  • Alignment
  • Remove text formatting

Insert Image from Computer

Images are an integral part of websites.  There are a few ways to add images to your site.  You certainly can use an image from a URL or upload from your site. 

 To insert an image from your computer:
 1. Click on Insert>Image
2.  Select 'Choose File from Computer>
3.  Browse to the image location on your computer.
4.  Select Open
5.  Click Insert

In edit mode if you select the image you will see a toolbar.  Here you have the option to choose the alignment, text wrapping and size.    To move the image, just click, drag, and drop. 

To insert an image from another site

1.  Click on from Web Address
2.  Enter the URL of the Site

In edit mode if you select the image you will see a toolbar.  Here you have the option to choose the alignment, text wrapping and size.    To move the image, just click, drag, and drop.
