Open & Reading Your Mail
To read an email, click on the message in your inbox. Unread messages are bold and read messages are not. By default, conversations are grouped together and the most recent message will appear on the top of the conversation stack.


Replying - Reply, Reply All, Forward
Both below and above the message are the options to "reply," "reply all" or forward. There is also a left facing arrow (Reply link" to the right of the message card. You can click that at anytime in the message to reply.

About CC and BCC

The CC and BCC fields are not automatically present. Click on CC or BCC to display those fields.



Compose a New Email & Send

  1. Click on Compose Mail to the top left of your inbox to create a new message.
  2. Enter the recipient email address in the 'To:' field. If you have contacts in your address book Gmail will automatically suggest addresses for you as you type that you can select or you can type the complete address
  3. Enter a subject for your message in the 'Subject' field.
  4. Write your message in the large field.The Formatting Toolbar gives you tools to change font type, size, color, alignments, bullets, numbering, emoticons, and more. There is also a Spell Checker.
  5. When finished, click SEND.
  6. Note about Saving & Drafts: Don't worry about losing messages as you are working on them. Google mail will auto save your drafts every few minutes and you can also click the SAVE NOW button to save. These 'saved' messages can be found in 'Drafts.'


Attachments

As with other email programs, your Google mail will allow you to add files as attachments. You cannot send .exe files or files over 25MB. You can attach a file by direct browse and upload or by drag and drop.

A. Browse & Upload Attachments

   1. Click on Attach a file under the subject field.
   2. Browse through your files and click the name of the file you want to attach. Hold the 'SHIFT' key, 'CTRL' key or 'CMD/CTRL' keys to select
       multiple files.

B. Drag and Drop Attachments
  1. Resize your window so you can find the file you are looking for on your computer.
  2. Select the file and drag over to where it says 'Attach a file' and a window will appear for you to drop the selected file.
  3. You can drop multiple files at the same time.


Note: Wait until the upload is complete before sending the message - a progress bar will show the status of uploadMailbox Style

Signature
You need to go into your mail settings to add a standard signature.  To get to your settings, click on the 'Gear' in the top right hand corner of your Mail acccount.  Choose the "Settings" option from the drop-down menu.

Scroll down the General Settings page until you get to the Signature Block.  Select the Signature Radio Button.  Enter Your Signature. 



Theme


To change your theme, (background design), click on the 'Gear."  Choose Themes from the dropdown menu.  Select your them.  It will auto save so you can simply return to the inbox when finished. 



Printing Messages
(Save a tree - print only if you have to!

Print One Message

  1. With the message open, click on the 'down arrow' next to 'Reply' at the top right corner of the message.
  2. Select 'Print' from the menu.

Print an Entire Conversation
  1. Open the conversation you want to print (this will be an email thread with a number in parenthesis indicating there are several email as part of  
      the same conversation grouped together.
  2. Click on the 'Print All icon' at the top right hand corner (this is in between the 'Expand All' and 'New Window' icons.
