Sharing & Modifying Access Settings
Each document and folder in Google Drive allow you the option of 'sharing'.  This unique feature allows you to collaborate (edit) in real time with many editors.  You can provide 'view only' or 'view and comment only' access as well.  This eliminates the need to 'email' attachments back and forth and makes sharing files easy.

5.1 To share a document or folder.

1.  Check the box  to the left of the document or folder.
2.  Click on More
3.  Select Share>Share (again)
4.  The visibility option is set to 'private' by default.  Click on 'Change to view options & access levels.

5.2 Set View Options

 If you are using an individual gmail account your options will be:
  • Public on the Web
  • Anyone with the Link
  • Private
If you are using an apps for business or education you will also see options to share only within an organization, 
  • Anyone in the Organization can find
  • Anyone in the Organization can edit

5.3 Access Levels

Owner
  • Edit Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and drawings
  • Invite more editors, commenters, and viewers
  • Delete files and folders
  • Remove access for any collaborator
  • Transfer ownership to another person
  • Add and remove something from a folder
Editor
  • Edit Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and drawings
  • Invite or remove other collaborators, if the owner has given editors this permission
  • Download or sync something to another device
  • View the list of other collaborators
  • Make a copy of something to save in Google Drive
  • Upload and delete file versions (synced or uploaded files only)
  • Add and remove items from a folder
View
  • View files and folders
  • Download or sync something to another device
  • Make a copy of something to save in Google Drive
Commenters
  • Comment on Google documents and presentations
  • View documents and presentations
  • Download or sync the document or presentation to another device
  • Make a copy of a document or presentation to save in Google Drive
