Weekly Update: September 4th to 8th

Ø Monday: Early Release, NO Eagle League or After school activities

Ø Friday: FREE Colors day for Children’s Day.

Ø IXL: A.3 and A.7

Ø Please READ every night: A completed Reading Log will get you an “iPad Day” during class!

Ø Study Spelling

Math- Number Concepts, TEST will be Thursday! An OPTIONAL review sheet will be sent home the night before!

~Daily Timed Tests: students must be fluent in basic math facts!

~ PLEASE spend time practicing basic addition facts!

Social Studies: We have created our very own community! Students will now begin to understand goods and services and then move on to Map Skills.

Language Arts:

Reading- We will continue to focus on finding the Beginning/Middle/End in a story. We will continue our author study of Kevin Henkes.

Tip: The goal by the end of the school year is for your child to be comfortably reading at level L or M.

Please make reading with your children at home a priority this year!! It will make a world of difference in the years to come.

Writing-Our Narrative Writing unit is off to a great start. Students have learned about Prewrite (brainstorm and planning), Draft, Revise, Edit. This week we will begin to Publish our first personal narrative!

Grammar- We will review collective nouns, as in group, team, party, class, and crowd. Then we will move on to VERBS!

Spelling/Phonics- This week’s words have a short o vowel sound

Please take a few minutes to study nightly.
