Weekly Update: August 14^th to 18^th

· IXL Math A.9 and A.10 (students have ALL week to complete these skills)

~ OPEN HOUSE is Tuesday, August 22, at 5 p.m. sharp! ~ I hope to see you all there.

· RazsKids (or students may read real books…we will have a reading log in case)

· SIGN the Assignment Book EVERYDAY

· Check the Take Home Folder every night…even Fridays

· The site will be updated every Friday afternoon. Check it once a week.

Math- Number Concepts, this is chapter one of the Go Math! most of these are review concepts from 1^st grade. It is important that students have a strong foundation in order to achieve higher levels in math.

Social Studies: We will discuss and learn more about our community and the rolls in it.

Language Arts:

Reading- We will understand how to find books that are just right for us. This week we will also begin an author study of Kevin Henkes.

Tip: The goal by the end of the school year is for your child to be comfortably reading at level L or M.

Please make reading with your children at home a priority this year!! It will make a world of difference in the years to come.

Writing- We will review writing strategies from first grade.

Grammar- We will review nouns.

Spelling/Phonics- This week’s words have a short a vowel sound
