Weekly Update: August 21^st to 25^th

· IXL Math M.1 and A.11 (students have ALL week to complete these skills)

~ OPEN HOUSE is Tuesday, August 22, at 5 p.m. sharp! ~ I hope to see you all there.

· RazsKids (or students may read real books…we will have a reading log in case)

· SIGN the Assignment Book EVERYDAY

· Check the Take Home Folder every night…even Fridays

· The site will be updated every Friday afternoon. Check it once a week.

· Friday: Colors Day 5 lps.

Math- Number Concepts, this is chapter one of the Go Math! most of these are review concepts from 1^st grade. It is important that students have a strong foundation in order to achieve higher levels in math.

Social Studies: We will learn about important jobs in a community. Each student will fill out an application to apply for one of our class jobs.

Language Arts:

Reading- We will understand how to find books that are just right for us. We are learning to find Character Traits in our story books. We will continue our author study of Kevin Henkes.

Tip: The goal by the end of the school year is for your child to be comfortably reading at level L or M.

Please make reading with your children at home a priority this year!! It will make a world of difference in the years to come.

Writing- We will begin our quarter long unit on Narrative Writing. Students will also review and build upon the Writing Process they learned in previous years.

Grammar- We will review nouns.

Spelling/Phonics- This week’s words have a short e vowel sound
