Amity High School

The Amity Strings Ensemble comprised of strings students from Amity High School and the Bethany Strings Ensemble will perform at the Winter Concert on December 10, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Brady Center at Amity High School.  The Bethany Strings Ensemble will perform at their Winter Concert on December 4, 2014 at 7 p.m and the Orange Middle School Winter Concert will be held at the Orange Middle School on December 11 at 7 p.m. The Amity High School concert on December 10th will include the following highlights, "
Theme from "Batman", Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro", and Beethoven's "Adagio Cantabile". Also holiday music including " Highland Holiday"  "Carol of the Bells" and "Festival of Lights" will be performed. We hope to see you there. Please support your child and attend these festive concerts.

The Amity High School strings students will be hosting a visit with guest conductor Joby Brunjes who has Bachelor's and Masters Degree in violin and conducting from the University of North Carolina School for the Arts. Joby will be visiting the high school on November 6th during sessions 2,3 and 4.  He has taught at Cheshire Academy, and the Hopkins School and presently teaches at Hamden Hall Country Day School. The visit is sponsored by a generous grant from the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation.

On November 15, 2014 students from the Amity High School band, choir and strings will be auditioning for the Southern Regional Festival Band, Chorus and Strings at Foran High School in Milford. Any students who are accepted will be eligible to perform at the Festival on January 9 and January 10, 2015. These students will also be eligible to audition for the CT All State Festival Orchestra.

On March 4, 2015 the Amity Strings Ensemble students will be traveling to Lincoln Center to hear the
New York Philharmonic perform "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Felix Mendelssohn. They will also have a tour of Lincoln Center including the famed Metropolitan Opera House.
