About Us

The Fernandina Beach Marine Welcome Center & Shrimping Museum
is run under the auspices of the Amelia Island Museum of History (AIMH). In 2010 the City of Fernandina Beach approached the AIMH about creating a Welcome Center and Museum. AIMH gladly stepped up because we believe in our maritime history and in the importance of educating our community, both full time and temporary, on the amazing part it has played in the development of our local, state, and national heritage.

The Mission Statement of the Amelia Island Museum of History:
"In bringing alive the past, the Amelia Island Museum of History preserves, protects, and promotes the unique history of Amelia Island and its surrounding area
for a diverse community of residents, researchers, and visitors."
