2015 IESA Fine Art Award Winner for Music: Robert Fornander
The recipients who earned the Fine Art recognition awards -- the Distinguished Service Award and the Class Act Award -- are teacher-coaches who have set the bar high.
This is the sixth year for the presentation of the Distinguished Service Award. The recipients must be actively involved in IESA Music and demonstrate the ability to develop and promote standards of good performance practices, integrity and life skills within their students. The contributions of the award winner must have positively impacted students and the school community.
The individuals are nominated by their school peers, and the winners are voted upon by the IESA's Music Advisory Committee. For the Distinguished Service Award winner, the contributions must be significant and/or long term for someone involved with Music for over eight years of teaching and directing.
Robert Fornander, has served as both a music teacher and director at AlWood Middle School and High School, has dedicated 23 years to music education on his way to winning the 2015 Distinguished Service Award. According to Principal David Mills, "Bob is a great talent who has been able to take the resources of a small school and make a big product that we can all be proud of." Bob's passion for music extends to his teaching. He inspires the kids to meet their potential and to be well rounded students as he encourages them to participate in other activities as well. His enthusiasm for music and his students has the middle school students looking forward to involvement in the high school program as well. Bob has earned the respect of his students and his peers as he continues to inspire students through music and hard work.
Congratulations to Robert Fornander, the 2015 Distinguished Service Award Winner.
