Summer Day Camp 2015

Objectives:

To organize and implement a summer children’s program that is balanced, fun and beneficial.

We aim to ensure time is spent on religious education, physical activity, and creative expression.

This Year’s Camp:

This year we return with the classic weekly curriculum of past years, including Qura’an time, Islamic stories, sports, field trips, crafts and other fun activities. We’re also bringing new improvements, such as an early drop-off/late pickup, and a snack and hot lunch program.

This year, our camp will run for five weeks as follows:

  • July 20th to 24th
  • July 27th to 31st
  • August 4th to 7th
  • August 10th to 14th
  • August 17th to 21st

Camp will run daily from 9:30 AM to 3:00PM.

Al-Taqwa Student: Brescia ‘Take the Lead’ Speech Competition Finalist

Brescia University College, affiliated with the University Western Ontario, is Canada’s only university-level women’s college. Each year Brescia hosts a ‘Take the Lead’ high school public speaking contest. Girls in grades 11 and 12 from all over the world researched and prepared a five minute speech and submitted their videos online. This year the topic is about women who inspire leadership. Al-Taqwa Secondary School grade 12 student Sanaa Rkhes submitted her video and has been selected as a finalist for the competition. The first-place prize is one year tuition and residence. Way to ‘Take the Lead’ Sanaa!

Al-Taqwa Competes in Volleyball Tournament

Selected grades seven and eight students at Al-Taqwa Elementary School participated in a co-ed volleyball tournament with the London District Catholic School Board last month. They competed against 12 other teams and had a great time. A special thanks to Ms. Krystle for taking the time to organize Al-Taqwa’s sporting tournaments.

Polar Expressions Publishing Poetry Contest

Congratulations to the twenty-three Al-Taqwa Elementary School students who submitted their poems and made it through the first round of judging. This is a great accomplishment as Polar Express publishing receives thousands of entries from teachers across Canada.
