Brescia University College, affiliated with the University Western Ontario, is Canada’s only university-level women’s college. Each year Brescia hosts a ‘Take the Lead’ high school public speaking contest. Girls in grades 11 and 12 from all over the world researched and prepared a five minute speech and submitted their videos online. This year the topic is about women who inspire leadership. Al-Taqwa Secondary School grade 12 student Sanaa Rkhes submitted her video and has been selected as a finalist for the competition. The first-place prize is one year tuition and residence. Way to ‘Take the Lead’ Sanaa!
Al-Taqwa Competes in Volleyball Tournament
Selected grades seven and eight students at Al-Taqwa Elementary School participated in a co-ed volleyball tournament with the London District Catholic School Board last month. They competed against 12 other teams and had a great time. A special thanks to Ms. Krystle for taking the time to organize Al-Taqwa’s sporting tournaments.
