Teacher Information

I (Mr. Powers) am from Haverhill, MA and the oldest of 3 children. I attended public school up until college, when I went to Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. I studied Business along with taking many Liberal Arts classes.  During college, I was an active member of the college community.  I also volunteered in a preschool classroom, taught immigrants English and did service projects in both Maryland and Mississippi.  I am an avid runner and was a 4-year varsity member of the cross country team in college, 2 of which I served as the team captain. I studied in Galway, Ireland for one semester where I was actively involved in the Irish culture, history and life.

After college, I participated in the Alliance for Catholic Education through the University of Notre Dame. I earned my Master's Degree in Education through this program and am certified in Elementary Education.  I have taught 2nd grade at St. Anthony Elementary in Long Beach, CA for the past 2 years.  Along with teaching, I prepared my students for First Communion and Reconciliation, coached basketball and volleyball and immersed himself in the California lifestyle.

I am very excited to become a member of Alphonsus Academy & Center for the Arts!
