After running the 15K Ranger Run in the Spring, Stewart Wood set a goal of completing a half-marathon in 2012. He selected the Area 13.1 half-marathon, in Roswell, on August 18, which was actually run at night. He trained during the summer by gradually increasing his distance in training runs. He completed two training runs--in the summer heat--of 10 miles each in the weeks leading up to the race. So, on the day of the half marathon he ran 3.1 miles (5K) further than he’d ever gone before. He completed the race in 2:41:14, finishing 3rd in his age group (results). His comment upon finishing was “I can’t believe people run twice that far!" Now that Stewart has completed his first half-marathon, he has set his goal of running one per year while working on improving his time. Great job Stewart!!!
