Membership is open to all residents of Allendale and Saddle River or residents of contiguous towns who live no more than 5 miles from our AVAC headquarters.

 

Additionally, employees of businesses operating in Allendale and Saddle River are welcome to apply for membership.  


We have various levels of membership that will fit the needs of virtually any applicant.

What does an AVAC member do?

Allendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a full service EMS organization made up volunteers.  

We provide our services to residents, visitors and business employees in Allendale and Saddle River at no cost - 24 / 7 / 365.  

Our membership consists of:

  • Emergency Medical Technicians 
  • Driver / Lifters
  • Members who serve in specialized areas that may serve the management aspects of the corps.  Examples:
    • technology
    • website development
    • accounting
    • public relations
    • legal services

Members are fully trained to fill their positions with AVAC. 

AVAC underwrites the cost of all member training and provides monthly opportunities to augment training for members.

Our members are students, homemakers, lawyers, nurses, engineers, retired residents, teachers, accountants, technology professionals and more.


How do I become a member?


We hold our monthly business meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month, starting at 8:00 PM, at our Corps building:  
26 Arcadia Road 
Allendale, N.J.


Membership process
  • Contact our Membership Committee or any member who will provide you with information about the Corps
  • Fill out a membership application (above)
  • Meet with our Membership Committee so we can learn about you and you can learn more about AVAC.  
  • Upon membership approval members are notified of necessary training opportunities and assistance is given in signing up for training at one of the following schools:
    • Bergen County Emergency Medical Services Training Center in Paramus
    • Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah.
  • Fulfill probationary requirements
  • Attain full membership

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age in order to start EMT school.  Applicants must be at least 19 years of age in order to become a driver / lifter.
