Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to another exciting school year at Alhuda Academy! I am the middle school  language arts and social studies teacher, and I look forward to the adventure of working with your children.

This is my 10th year teaching at Alhuda Academy. I hold a  master's degree in Elementary Education and a Massachusetts Educator's License. I strive to be a role model for my students and foster each student's emotional and academic growth through student self-initiated inquiry and a continuous conversation to promote active learning.  Education is a human right and responsibility, and I take seriously the task of facilitating the learning process.

In middle school, students continue to work on their leadership and communication skills by participating in various stimulating activities, including the Middle School Debate, National Geographic Geography Bee, Alhuda Spellathon,  Letters about Literature Competition, the Middle School History Festival, and  STOP (Students Together Opposing Prejudice).

Themes in our classroom include teamwork, self-discovery, and global connections.  Through reading and writing, both non-fiction and fiction, students will see the world through vast perspectives, and form their own views of the world around them.  This year, I am excited to lead students in discovering themselves and others through blogs and podcasts.

I would like to encourage you to take an important role in your child's education.  There are opportunities for you to volunteer in a number of ways during the school year:

  • ·          Schedule a time to visit and share your "history,” or read a book with the class.
  • ·          Ask your child what she's learning in class, and send in artifacts or stories connected to the   topic.
  • ·          Stay connected with our school by checking the website and reading all communications from the principal and teachers.
  • ·          Check www.engrade.com to keep abreast of current assignments and grades.  I will send you and your child an email with updated log-in information.

May God grant us a prosperous and blessed year.
