The Algona Community School Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 1984 to maintain, develop, increase and extend the facilities and services of the Algona Community School District while providing for broader educational opportunities. Since that time, they have given over $1.4 million for classroom improvement projects and over $11 million in local college scholarships.

Each year current and past graduates receive scholarships that are made possible in part by the Algona Community School Foundation in partnership with other private scholarship funds such as the Hoenk, Mahana and Thompson Scholarship. Although the Foundation is best-known for its scholarships, the foundation provides classroom grants within the District.

In 2020, the Foundation committed to the improvement of facilities within the District with a $50,000 contribution for the Algona Turf Project. In 2019, the Foundation awarded a grant of $40,000 to update the playground equipment at both Bertha Godfrey Elementary and Bryant Elementary. Over the last two years, the Foundation has provided $475,000 in funding for items that enrich student learning beyond the typical school budget.
