Algona Community School Foundation
The Algona Community School Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 1984 to maintain, develop, increase and extend the facilities and services of the Algona Community School District while providing for broader educational opportunities. Since that time, they have given over $862,000 for classroom improvement projects and over $4.4 million in college scholarships.
Our December 2017 newsletter describes what's new with the Foundation!
Each year current and past graduates receive scholarships that are made possible in part by the Algona Community School Foundation in partnership with other private scholarship funds such as the Hoenk, Sefrit, Mahana and Thompson Scholarship. Although the Foundation is best-known for its scholarships, the foundation provides classroom grants within the District -- including a classroom grant to fund a robotics education program -- and then added to it in 2018. In 2015, the Foundation made a grant of $167,000 to the new Performing Arts Center -- its largest gift to date.
