About Us

Welcome to the new Alaska Freegold Website. Thanks for visiting.

Welcome.

My family has been operating a gold mine known as "The Blue Ribbon Mine" in the Dutch Hills of Alaska for over 20 years. I have created this website for the purposes of providing Alaska information that is usually not easily available. Whether you are a beginning miner/prospector, an old-timer, or otherwise enjoy reading about Alaska and looking at photos of Alaska scenery, miners, and misc. other subjects, or are seeking to learn "How-To-Do-It" then this site is for you.

Click HERE for the latest Alaska and Canada Mining News and more.

Take a look at an article I have written "Staking Your Claim to Alaska's Mineral Wealth", the first in a series of articles. The next article in the series answers the question "I Have A Claim, Now What?" (Coming Soon) and walks you through the steps required to get your permits and launch a small-scale mining operation.

I have also written a Field Guide to Alaska Rocks and Minerals, and created a series of "GIS on CD", beginning with "The Ultimate Prospectors Toolkit". You may also want to read "Participating in the Alaska Legislative Process" for some tips on getting involved.

Spend a few minutes browsing our site, or use the handy Search Engine. Besides the photo galleries, a Driveguide to the Petersville Road/South Denali, information and maps to the Petersville State Recreational Mining Area, stories, and tips, you'll find much more, such as a book review of "The Mystery of the Cache Creek Murders.".

I hope you enjoy the pictures and stories, and find something useful here.

Thank you for visiting.

P.S. We welcome property submittals, tips, and proposals.

We're not just about Alaska gold mining. We are developing Cultural Tours in cooperation with local museums and community groups, focused on the contribution that Alaska gold mining has and continues to have on the Matanuska-Susitna Valleys and the rest of Alaska. We work with Community Schools and others to educate the public about the importance of mining. And we are exploring the market for "value-added" uses of products made from the minerals of our projects.

Browse through the photos of Alaska gold, mining and miners, and the spectacular scenery surrounding the Blue Ribbon Mine. See Denali (Mt. McKinley), the Tokositna area, and more.
