UAF School of Education Graduate Program

Welcome to the UAF School of Education Graduate Program! Our fully accredited graduate certificate and Master of Education degree programs serve students from across the state of Alaska as well as other states and nations. We are particularly committed to enhancing the educational opportunities for Alaska's rural and Native teachers. Faculty research in cross-cultural studies, curriculum and instruction, language and literacy, and small rural schools support the missions of the School of Education.

The UAF School of Education is approved by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development to recommend its students for licensure in the following areas:
  • Elementary Education Certification M. Ed.
  • Secondary Education Certification M. Ed.
  • Special Education Certification M. Ed.
  • School Counseling Certification M. Ed. 
In addition to programs that lead to licensure, we offer Master of Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Cross Cultural Education, Community Counseling, Language and Literacy and Online Innovation and Design.

Graduate courses in the School of Education are delivered in a variety of methods to meet the diverse needs of our student population. Students may attend class in person on the Fairbanks campus, connect via audio conference or video conference or earn credits through online instruction. Most graduate programs may be completed fully by distance education.
