Candidates interested in completing the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (BAE) degree must apply to the University of Alaska Fairbanks as a degree seeking student. You can access the UAF undergraduate application here. Once accepted as a degree seeking student to the program, students are assessed through multiple measures at four major “transition” points. Candidates must meet Transitions One through Four, also known as the Criteria for Advancement through Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in order to receive a BAE degree.
Candidate Admission Information
There is a strong emphasis on performance assessment and portfolio development and evaluation relative to national and state standards. As a means of progressing through the program, all candidates must meet program standards, beginning with Transition One. Please refer to our Assessment Information, Pre-Internship Year link here (or below) for more information about candidate assessment forms and for details on evaluations and required competencies in the pre-internship years.
Internship Year Admission Information
Subject area courses and education courses provide a solid foundation for participating in the final internship year, but declaring a B.A. major in Elementary Education does not guarantee acceptance to the Professional Internship year. Acceptance to the Professional Internship year depends on candidates meeting all the requirements of Transition Two at an acceptable or target level. Please refer to this, Admission to Intern Year link, for more information on transitions requirements and how to apply to the final internship year.
