Research Projects

My research is interdisciplinary, and emphasizes the intersection of psychoanalytic theories of gender and sexuality with twentieth-century literature, film, and culture. I have published a book entitled Insane Passions:  Lesbianism and Psychosis in Literature and Film (Wesleyan UP, 2006) and articles on queer film and theory, Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, Monique Truong's The Book of Salt, Virginia Woolf's Orlando, James Joyce's Ulysses, and Franz Kafka's The Trial.

Right now I am at work on two different projects.  The first addresses the intersection of psychoanalytic, queer, and transgender theories;  the second examines masculinity in the work of the modernist writer Gertrude Stein.
