Awards and Citations
1969: HENRY ADAMS AWARD – Given by the Institution of Structural Engineers, London, UK for the most meritorious research paper.   The only Filipino Structural Engineer to receive this award so far.
1986: L’ORDRE DES PALMES ACADEMIQUE – Decoration given by the Republic of France for academic achievements and development activities. This award was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte.
1990:  OUTSTANDING MAPUAN AWARD – Given by Mapua Institute of Technology, Manila, Philippines
1991:  BANAAG AWARD – Presidential Award for the most outstanding Filipino Professional Overseas presented by H.E. Pres. Corazon C. Aquino.
1996:  OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD-Given by the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand
2005:  PATE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY AWARD FOR ENGINEERING EDUCATION – Given by the Philippine Assoc. for Technology Education, Inc.

Scientific And Technological Publications

Three (3) Books: Bridge Decks, Ferrocement and Low-Income Housing; Three (3) Chapters in Books; Eight (8) Edited International Conference Proceedings;  Forty (40) Refereed papers in Int’l Journals;  Forty three (43) Reviewed Conference Papers;  Eleven (11) Technical Research Reports; Ten (10) Papers on Educational Issues
Major Accomplishments
Raised US $250 million in grants for the Asian Institute of Technology.
Established the International Ferrocement Information Center, the only center of its kind in the world.
Published the Journal of Ferrocement, an international refereed journal.
Founded the International Ferrocement Society.
Wrote the First textbook on Ferrocement. It has been  translated into Spanish, French and Polish.
His textbook on Bridge Deck is considered the authority on the subject and was translated into Polish language.
Obtained the University status for Baguio Colleges Foundation (BCF), now it is called the University of the Cordilleras (UC). BCF was a college for 57 years. Raised Ps. 90 Million in grants for the Univ. of the Cordilleras.
Obtained  the Autonomous Status for UC and got three (3) of its  programs declared by CHED as Center of Excellence.  UC was named one of the nine (9) top universities in the Philippines by the Philippine Star (philstar.com – May 23, 2012).      
Raised the status of Angeles University Foundation to No. 5 in the Phils in government licensure examinations.
