-          Managing Director

How AIT degree helped you in achieving your career potential/goals

-          AIT brand was known to my employer that gave me first consulting job after I graduated from AIT. The Project was funded by the Asian Development Bank.

-          The Master Degree requirement involved writing thesis, the research and analysis knowledge gained out of it was of immense help in approaching and delivering consultancy services.

-          Personal attitude both being social and professional is paramount important in crafting the career.



-          Master Degree in Natural Resources Conservation, AIT, 1996

-          Post Graduate Diploma from University of Bodenkultur, Vienna, Austria 1993

-          Diploma in Civil Engineering, Royal Bhutan Polytechnic, Bhutan, 1988

Career/Accomplishment record after graduation from AIT:

-          Development of six sector environmental guidelines viz. hydropower, power transmission line, roads and highways, forestry operations, mines and minerals, and industries.

-          Established processes and procedures of strengthening environmental institutions in Bhutan. Jimba is the first environmental professional to institute environmental impact assessments in Bhutan. Since then all projects and activities in Bhutan are now undergoing environmental assessments. In 2003 Jimba received Distinguished Alumni Award from AITAA on account of engineering and environmental services provided to the Government and private sector of Bhutan.

-          In 1997 Jimba had founded Bhutan Consultants & Research (BHUCORE), the first environmental consulting firm in Bhutan. Besides environment BHUCORE is now successfully providing services in roads, bridges, urban, industrial development, socio-economic assessments, project evaluations and various others.

-          In 2005 Jimba joined United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Afghanistan. Over 08 years of work in Afghanistan, under Jimba management, over 19,000 km of roads and 75 bridges were built. In 2010 Jimba received the UNOPS global award “Best in Project Management”.

-          In July 2014 Jimba had resigned from the UN job and is now pursuing political career with an intension to play clean politics and bring in good to the Bhutanese society. As Bhutan has entered into democracy barely six year ago clean politicians are crucial towards achieving Gross National Happiness (GNH) and I will strive for it.
