Present position/ title: Professor (Selection Grade), Department of Soil, Water and Environment, University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh.

 

How AIT degree helped you in achieving your career potential/goals

-I was offered a dotoral scholarship by the French government before I completed my MSc. Degree from AIT. I believe, this was possible of my AIT education. My degree from AIT was highly evaluated by the authorities in France and they considered my degree was as good as a doctorate one. Not only that, I was also given admission at the Michigan State University of the USA on the basis of my AIT degree. Due to fund constraints, I could not avail it. Not only that, the 18 months’ course and research activities at AIT made me more confident in my field of specialization.

Education/qualifications:

-          B.Sc (Hons.) and M.Sc from the University of Dhaka ; M.Sc from AIT

-          D.Engg. from France; post doctoral in France, Japan and Australia

Career/Accomplishment record after graduation from AIT:

-          Worked as “Maitre Assistant” at the Université de Nancy I, France; working as part time French Teacher at the Institute of Modern Languages

-          Director of a Male Residential  Dormitory of 1000 students at the University of Dhaka

-          Directors of World Bank Financed and ACAIR financed research Projects

-          Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment of the University of Dhaka

-          Chairman of the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research

-          Founder Director of Bangladesh-Australia Centre for Environmental Research

-          Presidents of the Soil Science Society of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science and executive member of other alumni association including AITAA, Bangladesh chapter

-          I have been awarded Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal, UGC award for best research, Distinguished Alumni of AIT

-          Editor of several reputed journals; reviewer of a number of international scientific journals; member of a number of international professional bodies.
