Engineering Use Cases

This page lists engineering use cases or functional activities intended to be (re)used and specialized as steps in AIP-3 community scenarios. Each use case is linked to a description page and is also cross-referenced on the main AIP-3 page to the scenario steps in which it is included. The present list has been updated and extended from the initial work in AIP-2. A summary table in docx format is here. The AIP-3 engineering use cases engineering report is here.

The use cases are sorted according to "number". The base use cases are identified by letter and reusable child use cases by adding a decimal number (e.g. C.2). A diagram of the 15 base use cases as refined in AIP-3 is shown below:

Semantic Enabled Search This use case describes the conditions and steps for portals and application clients to support the GEOSS user in searching for resources of interest via a combined use of GEOSS Clearinghouses (or Community Catalogs) and Ontology Engines. CSR, Clearinghouse, Portal, Broker GEOSS Provider, GEOSS User, GEOSS Integrator
