Ahuimanu Elementary Welcomes You!





Students in grades 2-6 read 40 KidBiz articles this summer with a first try score of
75% and be automatically entered into a raffle for a mini iPad! The contest runs from
the first day of summer to the first day of school in the fall 2017.

The Ahuimanu Chorus sang a couple of songs at our Volunteer Appreciation Tea
on Wed., 5/17. The chorus is led by Mrs. South.

Congratulations to all our district level science fair participants: Naia Nyza, Emily Preis, Derrick Castillo, Evan Foster, Jasmine Katayama, Kaili Meeks, and Jonah Fernandez. These students all worked and represented Ahuimanu well at the Windward District Science Fair. Weʻre very proud of them all!

Additionally, Emily Preis won the Jr. Award for the Biochemistry Category! 
She will continue on to the State Science Fair in April. Way to go!


Grade 2 Chinese New Year Celebration





We are bringing an exciting fundraising opportunity called Oahu Fresh to our school. Oahu Fresh offers families the convenience of school delivery of fresh, locally grown produce. The produce bags may contain banana, eggplant, pineapple, sweet potato, lettuce, green onions, and kalo. There are also add-ons available such as local eggs, cheese, honey, coffee and more. There is a one time fee of $15. The delivery cost to families is $25 per bag, with 45 from each produce bag going back to the school. For more info., please visit

Your child should know our username & password. If they don't, please come and visit the Library, Computer Lab, or call the office and we'll give you the information. TumbleBooks is a wonderful site to read online books, take a quiz and do book reports!

All volunteers will need to go through a volunteer training with the PCNC. Please contact our PCNC for more information.

Students in grades 2-6 should be completing at least 2 KidBiz/TeenBiz articles a week. The goal is to have 40 activities completed by December. Tardy/Absent Policy
Attending school daily and on-time provides the students the opportunity to experience academic success. Absences will be excused due to an illness, family court hearings, and medical reasons with a verifiable note provided by the doctor. All other reasons will be considered unexcused. When a student has reached 5 absences/tardies, a letter will be sent home. If your child continues to have excessive absences/tardies, the school counselor will follow up with supports to ensure regular school attendance.

Instructional Time
Daily instruction begins promptly at 7:50am. Students should be in the classroom by 7:45am when the warning bell rings. If you find it necessary to bring articles of clothing, lunches, etc. to school during the day, please leave them in the office. Our office will make the delivery to the classroom during a time when it will be least disruptive to the instruction.

School Hours
School begins at 7:45am and end at 2:00pm on Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri. On Wednesdays, school ends at 12:35pm. JPOs begin duty at 7:30am. We have no supervision on campus before or after school. Unless your child is coming to eat breakfast, please do not drop off your child(ren) before the JPOs come on duty.

A+ Program
Before school care hours are from 6:00am-7:20am. A+ After School Care begins when school is dismissed until 5:30pm. The A+ fee is $85 a month per child. For more information, visit http://doe.k12.hi.us/programs/aplus.htm or call our school office at 239-3125.
