Suet Crust Recipe

I used a 0.9 litre sized casserole to make a pie for 2

To make the suet crust you will need:

350g self raising flour
1 teaspoon salt
175g Atora suet - at room temperature
about 200ml cold water
1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder
1 egg yolk mixed with a tiny bit of water to glaze
How to do it:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, suet and baking powder.  Stir in and mix approx 200ml cold water to form a slightly sticky pastry.  Roll out on a floured surface to about 2cm thick.  Use the pastry straight away and pop onto the top of your pie.  Brush with the beaten egg yolk (mixed with a tiny bit of water) and bake in your already preheated oven to 200C/400F or Gas 6 for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the pastry is cooked through.
