*President's Message*

A Message from the President

Thank you for visiting the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants’ website.

The Atlanta Chapter is a vibrant chapter comprised of a host of government financial accountability professionals like accountants, auditors, finance officers, budget officers, and analysts from federal, state and local entities.  We meet quarterly offering 3 hours of continuing professional education credits for 3 of our meetings and the 4th one offers 8 hours of continuing professional education credits.

The fiscal year 2014-15 promises to be another great year. We have already hosted two of the quarterly meetings and will be hosting two more before the year end. Of course, we will continue to invite high quality speakers for these events.

I am pleased to report that the Atlanta Chapter of AGA continues to be recognized for excellence in service to its membership in the Chapter Recognition Program.  This program tracks various ways the chapter provides services to its professional community.  I would especially like to thank the FY 2013-14 officers and committee chairs for a job well done as the Atlanta Chapter earned the Platinum recognition!

Our chapter is busy in various ways to provide information and services to its members.   The chapter earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Citizen Centric Report submitted for review in the fall.  We continue to participate in various charitable events such as the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree and Public Broadcasting’s fund raising drives.

Additionally, a key focus is to promote and advocate for the AGA’s Certified Government Financial Manager designation.  The Atlanta Chapter provides support to those seeking the CGFM certification by coordinating study groups and providing access to study materials.   The exam process can be daunting, but becomes a better experience when shared with professionals in the area that share the same goal.

The Atlanta Chapter has an energetic team of officers and committee chairs eager to serve your needs.  I thank each of them for their efforts, teamwork and support!   They are great!

I encourage you to get involved.  The Atlanta Chapter welcomes your contributions.  Feel free to reach out to one of us.  If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please let me know. We are here to serve you.
