Terry Dougherty

Terry served in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan from 1972–75, and remains fluent in Dari thanks to his work with Afghan refugees living in Fort WayneIN. He has a 35-year career in information technology, joining IBM in 1976 and working for the past 12 years in higher education technology at Taylor University and Indiana-PurdueUniversity in Fort Wayne. He has hosted five Afghan exchange students and was an area coordinator for the Youth Exchange and Study, YES Afghanistan, program from 2004–10. He is Vice President of operations for Friends of Afghanistan. Terry also serves on the board of directors for the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace and the Executive Committee of SOLA - School of Leadership, Afghanistan.

In addition to maintaining this web site. Terry provides support for publications and mailing the printed edition of Afghan Connections. In April 2011, Terry produced a performance of "Afghan Women Write" that was performed at Indiana-Purdue  University Fort Wayne. Friends of Afghanistan, SOLA, The Afghan Children's Songbook Project, and the Afghan Women's Writing Project were all featured in this performance. See the SOLA Blog for video of this performance.
